The Big Bear Lake International Film Festival is a non-profit organization dedicated to showcasing the emerging talent of screenwriters and independent filmmakers within the idyllic setting of Big Bear Lake. Our goal is to nurture a festival, which is highly creative, filmmaker friendly and which provides an educational experience for those people interested in all aspects of the film industry.

The Village Business Association is sponsoring the 3rd Annual “Chalk the Walk” in the Village on Saturday, October 23. This fun family event is in preparation for Halloween in the Village, which is the following week on Sunday, October 31, 2010.

Chalk the Walk is an art contest and eligible contestants must be registered within the Bear Valley Unified School District. Eligible grades to enter are from Kindergarten through Eighth Grade.  You can register individually, or as a group. All Art from “Chalk the Walk” will be displayed and used to decorate the store windows for Halloween in the Village.

The VBA supports our local schools and looks forward to sponsoring this fun, family event.

Ring in the start of the holiday season with Santa and the lighting of the Big Bear Christmas Tree.

A family tradition for over 27 years. The Village Shops and Restaurant will remain open throughout the evening. Big Bear Lions Club will keep you warm with lots of hot beverages at the corner of Village and Pine Knot. The Lions will also have a chance drawing and Santa will draw the winning number. Must be present to win.

Meet Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Santa House from 6:30 until 9pm.

Remember to dress warm for the evening.

The Chamber Maids are putting on a fashion show at the Northwoods Resort. Social Hour will be 11am, Lunch will be served at noon. This event features clothing and accessories from key retailers in the Big Bear Valley. Raffle items will also be available. You are sure to be delighted with the finds!

May 2011

The Fishing Association of Big Bear Lake sponsors the May Trout Classic program which provides major funds for fish plants; artificial habitat structures; conservation projects and monthly tournaments for designated species. Organized and implemented in 1983, the May Trout Classic has returned Big Bear Lake to a trophy trout status.

June 2011

Northwoods Resort hosts the Moms and Rods Antique Car show, which includes 400 pre-1976 cars, '50s and '60s music, vendors and special room rates for car show. For more information call (909) 754-5270.

JazzTrax newest festival site is a spectacular lakeside lawn at the Marina Resort in the Village of Big Bear Lake. It is the 5th annual JazzTrax Summer Music Festival in the San Bernardino Mountains, above Southern California, but the first to be held right on the lake. Plans are laid for the stars of smooth jazz to perform on a floating stage on top Big Bear Lake while the audience sits alongside on the shoreline. Come attend the biggest 4th of July fireworks display in Southern California. The fireworks are shot off from a barge on the Lake and are viewable from any of our public parks or the best spot, from a boat on the Lake. Show starts at 8:45pm to 9:15pm.

The annual Rotary Club Big Bear Lake Fourth of July Lakefront Fireworks and Barbeque at the Marina Resort on Lakeview Drive provides a great spot to view the fireworks display and enjoy food and live entertainment. Live entertainment by Reno and Cindy Holler. For $20, guest can have Pizza, Mexican or Hamburger or $24 for Steak. Admission (no food included): $10.

In the Village

The Fun Run at Big Bear Lake is a 3 day car show held in the Village of Big Bear Lake California. The event includes about 500 pre-assigned parking spaces, a Saturday afternoon 'Cruise Around the Lake' and a Sunday morning drive through awards presentation.

The 2010 event will be our 21st annual show, and over the years, has earned a very favorable reputation. The Fun Run is always held over the second weekend in August. The streets are generally full of spectators, and a summer shower may develop. This is a fun event!

The Arts Council of Big Bear Valley presents its 11th Annual Fine Arts Festival: Art on the Lake. With 60 artists from throughout Southern California exhibiting and selling their works, the Festival is open to the public with no admission fee.
